I honestly don't know, I just think Smithers is funny--I mean remember his fantasies about Mr. Burns flying in naked through a window? And his screen saver that had Mr. Burns saying "You are good at turning me on!" And Malibu Stacey the musical! Smithers is just a Simpsons staple you can't live without! But Milhouse does have that funny dog...lol
