I'm bringing polls back
So I did not get get the VT job I mentioned. Apparently the other candidate had more of a "reading background" or something. I was feeling super bummed about this, as rejection after rejection really piles on until it's almost too much to handle.
Then I got the brilliant idea to feel better by getting start on my most useless (but totally fun) Mission 101 goal: bring back the polls. Since "summer" (aka working and tutoring but at least getting up slightly later?) will be here soon, it just seemed like the time.
[Poll #2014935]
Thank you for helping me cheer up by being part of such ridiculous endeavors! <3

I don't remember kids movies being that completely sad. I mean, everyone cried when Mufasa died, but then there were musical numbers and a blue-assed baboon and awesome stuff to make you not cry anymore.
Or maybe I'm just sensitive in my old age. :)

And yes, agreed - stuff from the "golden 90s" (or whatever Disney calls it) has much more silly humor to balance things out. It's sad that Aladdin is poor, but hilarious genie! Monkey!!! Etc.!
Hm, you know, I should really check and see if any of my students saw Inside Out and get their impressions. I bet most of them would have perceived it in an entirely different way.

I drink (hot) tea all the time. Like 8-10 cups a day: black, green, herbal, redbush, etc.
I actually liked most subjects in school as a kid, but I fondly remember reading and science most (and history, but this wasn't really in your list). I was never a fan of PE, I always felt so clumsy.

That's impressive! So many antioxidants! XD

I liked most subjects as a kid, too, which is why I feel alright about teaching primary school now, where you have to spend time on a good variety of them. History is not in the Social Studies curriculum for most Early Childhood grades in NYC. I think it's because we're such a diverse community that it's been decided that the foundation of it all should be begin with getting to know the people in the community and finding out about the languages, religions, customs, etc. of other kids in the class. I understand this, but it would be nice to find time to include both.
As for gym, our gym is quite simple. Stretching, "duck duck goose", freeze dance, scooters, balance beams, dribbling basketballs...and yet there is one kid in my class who seems to be unable to get through a single gym without falling on the floor at least three times...XD

Hehe, I was that sort of kid I think...

I don't remember anything about my early learning days D:
I've technically seen Her but I don't remember there being Christ Pratt so I chose the non-earthling option ~

Though I never thought of seltzer water as unhealthy. Isn't it just carbonated water? I mean, sure, lots of burping may occur, but other than that, is there really an effect?

Hahah, well, Chris Pratt was a supporting role, not a lead, in Her, Zero Dark Thirty, and Moneyball. In Her, Chris Pratt is the guy in charge of the letter-writing company, which seemed like quite the random casting choice at the time. :D

Diet Coke is one of the greatest things, ever. I am an addict. I should own stock in the Coca-Cola Company given how much I consume.
I loved school, especially as a kid, and all those things were right up my alley as a kindergartner. Except singing. I could take or leave that.
I'm sorry about the job! I'm in the middle of sending out job applications, too, and I know how hard it can be. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!

I used to be intensely addicted to it, too. Now I've cut down to mainly drinking it on weekends but it's just nice to know it's there. :P

Your teachers must have loved you. ;)

Thank you! Sending good vibes/thoughts your way as well.

What I remember liking most in school in my younger grades was out of the ordinary projects and such...spending weeks on activities related to the Oregon Trail and westward expansion, having a multicultural fair with plays and food.. and I liked art and music classes, and the things I was good at bc I was good at them :). Namely grammar/spelling and writing.
Only seen one of those Chris Pratt movies and don't recall him in it.
Water with natural flavor added, I.e. lemon juice, lime juice, etc. is my choice no calorie beverage.

Yeah, I tried the LJ app on my phone for one day and that was that...doesn't seem to do the logical things!

Agreed! In fact my whole "philosophy of education" essay is about how those types of hands-on experiences can change a child's whole view/understanding of something and make a mark in their minds the way simple reading/writing/discussion simply can't.

That is a nice idea (though I think the natural flavor probably has like 2 calories or something :P)!

I can't start my day without a large americano! :D

And wow, that is one impressively caffeinated way to start a day. :D

Also, yay the return of polls!
I have to recuse myself from the $10 question due to conflict of interest unfortunately.
My current main emotion is anticipation: leaving for Europe on Thursday! (and so much stuff to still get done, oops XD)

Thanks - I'm definitely hoping that is the case!

Ha, well, the original idea was to replace Andrew Jackson on the $20, but I guess that idea was scrapped due to sexism? Not sure why else it would be scrapped because Andrew Jackson was a jerk and didn't even like paper money. >.>

Exciting! Hope you have an amazing time (though I know you always do, so)! :D

(I'm still not sure which woman I'd want on a bill, though. I mean, there are plenty of deserving candidates, but I don't know that I have any particular favorites I'd lobby for. Eleanor Roosevelt, maybe?

And Justin and I loved Inside Out
