I picked over ten years on the last one on account of my mom.

I HATE FLYING. Not only does it freak me out, it's dreadfully uncomfortable. I get a sore back and sore legs and my skin gets all dry and cracked. Normally I'm not a whiner IRL but I turn into a horrible, sniveling creature on the plain.

I'm also a big fan of "PO-TA-TOS, you know, boil 'em, mash 'em, stick 'em in a stew!" But who isn't? And that's not really what I'd call dramatic...except in the way that 98% of the things out of the mouth of that Rudy is a little too dramatic to handle.

I picked over ten years because of a former professor I'm friends with who is 12 years older than me. It's a bit of a stretch, because you did specify "close friends" and we're not all that close, but our friendship is definitely a *friendship*, rooted in shared geeky interests, and not an academic relationship.
