I used to have a hard time throwing stuff away, but it got so bad with the clutter that now I actively force myself to not be too pack-rattish. I can get sentimental about little knickknacks though.
This is where anyone who didn't Google the answer can take a guess at the trivia question I set forth.
To completely duplicate my state of mind (wherein I came up with the answer in about 15 seconds), you need to drink heavily and steadily for six hours. :) Long Islands and various mixed drinks, only - no beer. ;)
I gave up on the trivia question around Colorado (I doubt I even remember half the state captials -- middle school, when I had to memorize them all, was a long time ago :P), but wanted to comment on your choice of favorite presidents. ("I'm William Henry Harrison/I died in 30 days!")
Ok, so not so much "comment" as "quote The Simpsons on the subject of" but, eh, close enough :)
WHH is totally the man. I mean, it's not his fault they made him give his inaugural address outside in inclement weather where he contracted the pneumonia that killed him - right?
As for eating: I'll eat pretty much anywhere. I second the person who made the comment about bathroom eating -- it's so gross, haha, but it just happens sometimes. Example: Popsicles. It's not like you can put them down!!! As for driving, I'm not comfortable enough yet driving to eat and drive. I usually don't even talk and drive.
OXFORD COMMAS ARE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN... "When you go to the store, please get milk, lettuce, macaroni and cheese" and "when you go to the store, please get milk, lettuce, macaroni, and cheese." The first one is too confusing!
I read a lot, but I've never actually really kept track of how many books I read per year. I should start.
Throwing things away... I'm a packrat. It's a bad habit.
I love to be challenged, in some ways... intellectually, yes, emotionally... ughhhhh.
Dude, when it comes to songs Radiohead (Street Spirit) wins with the saddest. But if we're going with instrumental the third movement from Shostakovich's fifth symphony wins, always. When the Rotterdam Philharmonic played it, it turned into a real tearfest (I cried too). Basically it's all the misery the Russian common people have felt. Not just because of oppression but also because of the loss of, well, basically everything.Have a link! What makes it even more powerful is the great movement that comes after, the fourth. Incredible.
All I know of US presidents I learned from wikipedia, but I sort of like Martin van Buren. His article is incredibly lulzy and he's the only president whose first language wasn't English but Dutch.
Thanks for the link! It is a very beautiful piece. It didn't make me feel particularly sad, but I can definitely see how this could be quite moving if you heard it live.
The Oxford Comma is the only thing holding society together.
That is not an exaggeration.
(That is a small exaggeration.)
Also, I am the worst person ever for not getting rid of anything. Things I have only recently gotten rid of include about six million Happy Meal toys from up until about the time the Olympics were in Georgia, ticket stubs from movies that are so old the ink has all worn off so I have no idea what movies they are even from, foil wrappers from chocolate eggs etc. that have been vaguely folded into shapes from goodness knows when, several pieces of wax (I don't even know) and class notes from high school. This summer was the summer of Yard Sale and Throwing Things Away. There was a lot of personal growth :o)
Also, I am about a million days late on this poll, but I don't like to miss your poles!

If it isn't right, uh, I'll get back to you!
