On a ridiculous holiday

I had off from school today and I managed to get a bunch of work done. Though I'm still sick with a horrible sore throat and some other respiratory/cold symptoms (and I'm not sure how I'm going to recover, considering how much I have to speak loudly every day D:). Anyway, I'm rewarding myself for getting stuff done by doing something I haven't really done since freaking APRIL...a poll consisting of unrelated questions!

[Poll #1630460]

Thanks for taking. :)

I think this is my very first Random Poll! :D

I like the idea of Indigenous Peoples Day, too, but the genius of having a Jo March day is that you could still call it Christopher Columbus Day and you wouldn't have to change the calendars! Yeah.

p.s. I hope you feel better! Lots and lots of tea!

I LOVE this idea. Especially because it's give me more of an excuse to listen to Sutton Foster singing nonstop...

I have all those accounts... but Facebook is the only one I manage to use more-or-less consistently, and that in spurts.

Favorite elements: FLUORINE, as mentioned above, is my favorite forever, but I'm also very partial to Carbon (you can make buckyballs with it! :DDD Also, Kevlar), and Tungsten. A very boring Inorganic Chem prof totally soured me on Boron (he was obsessed with it), and I once had to do a really boring report on Rhenium, and haven't liked it since then.

LOL, so sadly fitting.

I missed your random polls ;-)

feel better soon!

I miss having time to make them, too. D:

Thank you! <3

Hope you feel better soon!

For the questions:

- I picked vampire but I think I've only ever just worn a vampire cape. I hate those gross vampire teeth things -- I can only stand wearing them for like a minute at a time. I'm ashamed to admit I once went trick-or-treating without a costume. I forget how it happened but for some reason I wanted to go trick-or-treating with everyone else and was going to stay back and not get candy, but then that ended up being too awkward so I just went to the doors with everyone else and felt bad... :|

- Regarding e-readers: I don't read often enough, and I almost never reread books, so buying books just isn't worth it for me; I just use the library. I picked the last option because that seemed the closest.

- I don't even have time to do Facebook regularly. But I respond to friend requests, I guess?

- I've always admired the noble gases. They seem so serene and self-content and composed. :)

Thank you! :)

Yay, I'm as excited as you about the poll!
You should have included Disney character in the costume list
I am more likely to sacrifice style for comfort, but I'd like to switch that around more, at least some.

[identity profile] deeplyunhip.livejournal.com 2010-10-20 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
I considered including that, but I felt like since most people on my flist are female, most Disney characters fit under "princess". Though I guess that leaves out people like Tinkerbell, so yeah, probably should have included. Ah well!

[identity profile] passionrlsusall.livejournal.com 2010-10-20 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
I actually was Tinkerbell one year (and my younger, shorter sister was Peter Pan), but don't worry- fairy covered that one.

I was also Cinderella, however, and don't think she was ever a Princess.

This was cool! Do more of these! :)

Also, for the elements question, I really like the whole table, because of this, which, incidentally, I have performed myself once or twice. ;)

Feel better soon! Hot tea with bourbon has helped me a lot with sore throats.

When I have time to do anything, I will definitely want to. Full time work for no pay + two classes + big projects for those classes + trying to keep up with karate and exercise + Anders = barely any time for anything else. D:

(Though I'm trying to find extra time for silliness as often as I can, believe me! :)

Thank you! I can't have alcohol because of my acid reflux problem right now, but I'm certainly going crazy with hot tea and honey all the time.

I am intrigued by Goodreads and A Library Thing, I'm going to have to look them up now!

I used to have a MySpace account but never really used it, and I think I still have it, but it's only to listen to music... and I never use it anyway. I'm pretty sure I signed up for Flickr, but I never use it for my own photos, and I'm not really a fan of the interface, so I don't generally look at other people's photos there if they're posted elsewhere as well. I also have deviantART and Dreamwidth accounts -- I only use the deviantART when I'm browsing other people's art there (which is rarely), and I've never used my Dreamwidth.

As for Halloween costumes, apparently I picked eccentric outfits. :P From what I can remember, I've been a pumpkin, a troll (like the troll dolls from the early 90's!), a skunk (it was an old dance costume...), a vampire, the Grim Reaper, a "random put together every costume piece I can find from the dollar store being" and other things that I can't remember at this very moment.

I am embarassed at how much I eat out -- I'm never hungry in the mornings and forget to pack lunches, so I'm always picking something up after work/at school/etc. Sigh. It must change for the sake of my health and my bank account!

[identity profile] deeplyunhip.livejournal.com 2010-10-20 01:16 am (UTC)(link)
Aww, I bet you were a super cute troll! And I like the skunk costume idea a lot, too.

Lol, so much love for the noble gases! I am not alone!

Hope you feel better soon.
