Handwriting and Hogwarts
Sep. 18th, 2008 09:47 pmI started to write about "New York City" (up next on the ABC meme) but it was too depressing for the moment. Therefore, we have a meme and a very short poll! Fun times!
Shield your eyes for this one:

hamsterwoman, who seems to know a little bit about this business. And yes, I'm aware that my handwriting looks like that of a ten year-old. :/
The Handwriting Meme
1) Your name / username
2) Left or right handed?
3) Favourite letters to write
4) Least favourite characters to write
5) Write "The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog."
6) Tag five people

In case that wasn't amazingly clear, I'm tagging
misstopia,
honest_illusion,
your_downfall,
liaku, and
guad. :)
Anyway...remember HP? Yeah.
misstopia just did this in her journal and you know I can never resist the urge to jump on the self-obsession bandwagon. I know I've probably asked this question twice before, but it's been awhile and I've gotten a lot of new LJ friends since then, so...I'm doing it yet again. Deal. And by "deal", I obviously mean "take the poll". :P
Let me know:
[Poll #1262652]
Feel free to comment with any amazing explanations. :)

Date: 2008-09-19 02:06 am (UTC)I'm sure you could fit in anywhere cause you're awesome. And I said Ravenclaw fits you best, but honestly I don't know what's in your head; I just chose it 'cause it's my favorite and you seem bright and clever and such.

Date: 2008-09-19 02:42 am (UTC)I don't actually know anything about Blossom except that she's "the leader" and the fact she has red hair, but that's enough to assure me that she's amazing. :P
As for Jaime, I agree - certainly one of the less Slytherinish Lannisters. Though I would argue that Tommen is even less Slytherinish, lol.
And for characters you hate, how could it not be the lower-case Z? I don't understand this! Look at it! It's gross, in so many ways! Though okay, maybe you magically figured out a way to make it non-disgusting.
(Clearly needed to respond with my Blossom/LC icon!)

Yeah.

Date: 2008-09-19 02:51 am (UTC)Yes Tommen, true, he's the family 'puff, ahhah oh Tommen you are so huggable. I suppose Tytos wasn't all that Slytherin either.
Blossom was pretty kickass, but then they all were. I wasn't a huge Powerpuff watcher or anything, but it doesn't take long to sum up their personalities. Actually you pretty much got it here without ever watching.

Date: 2008-09-19 06:17 am (UTC)OK, so. Your line slant is almost horizontal with a slight downward bent here and there, which means a personal who is calm and rational, with just a slight tendency towards pessimism. Your letter slant is very vertical, which means a person who is logical, head over heart, etc. Your writing is dominated by the middle zone, which indicates a person who is down-to-earth and lives in the present. Although the middle zone dominates both, your lower zone (~id) is more prominent than your upper zone (~superego), and this suggests a healthy degree of sensuality, and also friendliness (the loops on your g's). The friendliness is corroborated by the rounded features of your writing. Your handwriting is essentially printed, with all of the letters disconnected, and I'm trying to remember what that means... I think it's some combination of creativity, artistic nature, and childishness...
If that's a full-sized piece of paper, your writing would appear to be fairly large (although you may have just been trying to ensure it would still be legible post-scanning). If your writing is actually pretty large, that's generally a sign of a bold, gregarious personality.
Specific letter features: Your m's stand out because they look like capital m's. Unfortunately, I have no idea what this means... Generally, more angular m's and n's mean aggression and drive, but your initial m's are unusual enough that they might mean something different... I just don't know what. Your i's have low dots diectly over the letter, which reinforces the detail-orientation, precision, and concentration. Yout t crosses short and to the right, indicating a person not easily moved to change their ways, but with drive and foresight.
Your numbers are very crisp and clear -- this means you are an honest and detail-oriented person.
You didn't include any I's (the pronoun) in the sample, so I can't say anything about your view of self :(
Now, I knew this already, but your signature corroborates it: you like the "Kim" part better than your full name, since "Kim" is written perfectly legibly and the rest is just kind of sketched. Also, your capitals look to be bigger in the signature. The signature is the public image you (subconsciously) want to project, and the larger the capitals, the more self-confident the person is (except where it's so exaggerated that it's over-compensation). So, the higher capital in the signature means you want to appear more self-confident than you really feel.
Bottom line: You are a controlled, rational, detail-oriented, down-to-earth person who is also friendly, creative, and bold, and you like to seem more confident than you actually feel.

Date: 2008-09-19 03:08 pm (UTC)We make fun of homeless people too much for you to be a Gryffindork, you're too active to be a Hufflelump, and not reclusive/dedicated enough to be Raven. I think you'd grow bored with any house but Slytherin.
Of course, I may be biased in my choice because I wouldn't want to be lonely in my likely assigned house. <3
---------------------------------------------------------------
As for handwriting, I saw the movie Momento like eight years ago and trained myself to write like Guy Pearce's character over the course of a year or so. As a result, I haven't written a lower-case letter or cursived anything but by signature in a long long time. So keeping in mind my dedication to simply writing small and large upper-case letters, E's and G's are my favorite while I's are my least, cus they are either dull or obtuse (depending on if you add the Northern and Southern lines or not).

Date: 2008-09-19 03:31 pm (UTC)I also don't really think I'm a Slytherin due to the fact that I'm not terribly sneaky (pretty damn honest) and the fact that I seem to be lacking the qualities necessary to get myself the job/career/money I need. :/
However...if you were sorted there, I'd clearly need to do what I could to get in with the Snakes, regardless. :) Nothing like hanging out with your boyfriend in the dungeons. :P
I actually think you might be more of a Ravenclaw, but I think we have different "definitions" of the four houses going on in our heads.
As for your handwriting, damn. I was all impressed by how neat it was and it turns out it's not even yours at all. :P

Date: 2008-09-19 04:29 pm (UTC)There are a lot of individual things that point to detail orientation... so it would seem to be an actual feature of your handwriting as opposed to a one-off thing. Hmmm. Maybe you're right and it's just a particular kind of detail.

Date: 2008-09-19 04:31 pm (UTC)It's OK, I'm sure I can keep your worst traits under wraps if... sufficiently motivated, hmmm? :)
Or, feel free to filter the writing sample so that I can't see it if you'd prefer. I'd hate to stand in the way of a person following through on a tag in an internet meme! :D

Date: 2008-09-19 05:00 pm (UTC)ok, definitely not my day *dies*
Then I must do. Because you have to pay your debts to the Lannisters. And I'm not filtering. I can deal with the aweful truth *rotfl*

Date: 2008-09-19 05:11 pm (UTC)Ravenclaw is another story; I did have to think about it before throwing you to the snakes. My view of the Ravenclaws (keeping in mind I read each book only once, and a very long time ago) is that they are the "free-thinkers" and "scholars" of the batch. They're certainly closer to Slytherins than the other two houses ('a la Tyrells to Lannisters). I ultimately chose Slytherins for you simply because it's easy for me to distract you. =p To clarify, I think you'd grow tired of the company/ideals of Ravenclaw after being amongst them for an extended period of time.
Also, I like to think one can dabble in the dark arts without caring about Voldemort. That Slug fellow is more of the archetype I was thinking of!
